The Great Commandment
There are times when life gets difficult and those around us may also follow suite. With an increased difficulty in times and difficulties in being able to communicate with our fellow man, life appears to break down. However, there is always a solution to what appears to be a difficult situation. Our worldly troubles will pass but what remains is our dedication to GOD. How did we act during the times of trouble? Did we remember GOD and pray to Him regardless of the obstacles? Do we feel like we are all alone? Remember the promises that GOD has made to His people. Every promise that GOD has made, He has kept. Throughout the Bible, GOD shows us that He makes sure every promise He makes is kept. He guides us so that we are able to make it to where He intends us to go.
Who more than JESUS who was able to go through the troubles of this life while trusting GOD throughout the process. Knowing that He would be ridiculed by the world, tortured, condemned for our crimes, He still went along with the promise of GOD. JESUS continues to instruct us to follow the instructions He left us. When he was being tested like he continually was tested by hypocrites and liers, he continued to preach and teach the word of GOD. He was asked by a lawyer at the time what the great commandment was in order to test him. JESUS was able to answer, “And he said to him, ”You shall love the LORD your GOD with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.””
JESUS instructed us to follow the commandments that GOD gave to Moses and the top of the mountain. Those same commandments that kept order and civility in the houses of the Israelites and the community of the Israelites. By trusting in what GOD commands, we are able to follow his guide to life. GOD wants what is best for us. GOD loves us. Therefore, we should be able to love him above all else. Above all else. If we love GOD, we do not worship other items or ideas as greater or equal than GOD. GOD is above all. We do not say the LORD’s name in vain because we love GOD.
If we love our neighbor as ourselves, then we do not covet what our neighbor has. We do not commit adultery because we love our neighbor as ourselves. We do not steal or bear false witness because we love our neighbors as ourselves. We must place our hearts under the guidance of GOD and avoid those ideas that go against the guide that He placed for us. With this our Redeemer was able to speak truth to the problems that existed in those days as well as the problems that exist in these days. We need to understand that GOD wants us for himself because He is our creator, our redeemer, and our heavenly father. JESUS died on the cross for our sins. Only by following JESUS can we continue forward. We should love GOD above all else and love our neighbor as ourselves.
