“And he called the people to him again and said to them, ‘Hear me, all of you, and understand: There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.’” – Mark 7: 14-15

How many times have we said something we did not mean and had to find ways to make something better? How many times have words had the effect of causing unnecessary pain and suffering? Some criticisms can be accepted if they have a constructive nature to them. Then there are those that are vicious words that only intend to ridicule or pain others.

When we attempt to understand this, we can see that we are not meant to hurt one another. We are intended to build one another up and edify ourselves instead of cutting each other out. When we quarrel, we should try our best to understand each other’s point of view and attempt to give a suggestion that may help see a differing point of view without hostility or anger.

Each of these instances allow us to understand each other better and be able to know how to better respond to questions that there may be. There are ways to respond without attack or attempting to cause others pain. However, we should keep a mental note that we should care for one another regardless of the many differences that may exist. If we can keep this in mind, we will be able to understand how to communicate in a way that allows us the ability to build up.
