Following the Way

“Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the GOD of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.” – Psalm 25: 4-5

“Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.” – Psalm 25: 8-10

What does it mean to know the LORD’s way? Star Wars has recently made a theme about this specific idea. Why is knowing the way important? If we need to know the real way then does that imply that there are other ways that are not the LORD’s way?

This may mean that we must stay focused on what the LORD wants in our life and follow His way. There may be many distractions that may attempt to sway someone from a specific way or purpose. It is therefore important to keep to the way that the LORD has instructed. How does one keep his way pure? By following the commandments and understanding.

If the LORD is good and upright then the ways that lead to the LORD are good and upright. If they are not good and upright, then they are not the ways of the LORD. That would be basing it on strict logic which compounds with faith to produce even a greater belief. So we know that in the LORD’s path there are specific criteria that fit in that other criteria does not.

A) Goodness

B) Uprightness

C) Knowledge

D) Salvation

E) Patience

F) Instruction

G) Humbleness

H) Steadfast Love

I) Faithfulness

J) Commandments

K) Proclaiming His Testimonies

L) Truth

Therefore, while it may difficult to know what the LORD wants for our lives, we are given a way of identifying what we are to follow. By the same, we are to not follow ways that may be antithetical or diametrically opposed to these.
