Jesus Heals the Sick
“And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him.” – Matthew 8:14-15
In the Old Testament of the Holy Bible, we see numerous examples of healing being done either by the prophets of GOD or by those who were anointed with healing. We see that Elisha was able to heal an individual back to life through the faith. These instances are preludes to what Jesus was to accomplish in his work.
There are numerous examples of when Jesus healed many and allowed them to be at peace from infirmities. In the example in Matthew 8 we see that Jesus was able to heal the in law of Peter’s house. Our first reaction is to not believe these instances because they seem difficult to imagine. A man going around and healing with the touch of his hand or by his faith. However, if we pay attention to the many instances that occurred, it was also due to the faith of the person who had an infirmity.
The healing acts of Jesus were done on those who believed in him. It was stated that many sought Jesus even to simply touch the tunic that he was wearing. We have an example of an individual who was healed by simply touching the tunic. When Jesus turns and asks who had touched his tunic, a person responds that she had touched the tunic and had been healed.
When we see these examples, if we do not have faith, they probably won’t seem believable. Yet when we do have faith as the individuals who had faith, we are able to see that Jesus was able to heal and provide restoration to those that had difficulties. He is not only able to heal but to save.
