” The word that came through Jeremiah from the LORD: ‘ Stand in the gate of the LORD’s house and perform there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all you men of Judah who enter those gates to worship the LORD. This says the LORD of hosts, the GOD of Israel: Amend your ways and your deeds, and I will let you deeply in this place. Do not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD.” -Jeremiah 7: 1-4

Jeremiah was able to preach against Israel for all the inquiry that Israel was committing. Instead of Israel choosing to abandon the iniquity, they insulted, attacked, or threatened Jeremiah for speaking the truth. We are able to read that Jeremiah does not give up and continues preaching the words that GOD had told Jeremiah to say to sinners.

As believers we see that son is able to change the one loyal and faithful people of Israel into individuals that have hardened their hearts and are deceived in their actions. GOD states that the people were going to the temple and believing that they could continue sinning and GOD would allow the difficulties insincere worship. The people had decided to continue sinning and going to the temple would serve as a manner to cleanse them from their sins. We learn that GOD does not want insincere worship and wants our wholehearted worship instead.

Jeremiah was committed to worship GOD fullheartedly while the people did not. For this reason, GOD tells Jeremiah to preach the need for repentance from the sins that they were committing. Jeremiah was telling the people that they needed to change their actions in order to go to the temple and worship GOD with the correct belief and faith.
