“Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as King and deal wisely, and shall execute Justice and righteousness in the land. In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The LORD is our righteousness.'” -Jeremiah 23: 5-6

We learned that Jesus Christ is mentioned in detail in the Old Testament through the words of the prophets. We learn that the words of the prophets were divinely inspired by GOD and sometimes directly stated to the prophets. We learn that Scripture has truth because the source is GOD and the Spirit of Truth. We learn that Jesus Christ is also mentioned in the prophets like we read in Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Moses, and Isaiah. We learn that we are able to understand the truth that GOD wants us to learn in order to obtain salvation.

Jeremiah mentions in Chapter 23 about a Shepherd that would arise out of the branch of David. We learn that Jesus Christ lived in righteousness throughout His whole life while following the purpose of GOD. We learn that both Judah and Israel would be saved but saved spiritually by those that believed in Jesus Christ. We learn that the Shepherd that would lead Israel and Judah would save them spiritually and would give them salvation through His faith.

GOD saved Israel from Egypt when they left for the promised Land. GOD saved Israel from exile after Israel had spent time in exile. We learn that GOD has saved Israel from its adversaries and brought them back to their land. We learn that the promises given to Israel by GOD have a history to Abraham. GOD promised to save Israel through a righteous Shepherd that has saved not only Israel and Judah but humanity from the world. We can have faith in a GOD that has saved us by sending Jesus Christ to save us from our sins and given us life. The righteous Shepherd has saved and fulfilled the promises that were given by the prophets.
