The Psalms and Understanding

“Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind! In the cover of your presence you hide them from the plots of men; you store them in your shelter from the strife of tongues.” -Psalm 31: 19

While there may be opposition to the promises of GOD, we know that GOD allows us to be at peace knowing that He has already created and written history. We know what history is meant for and the meaning of our existence. We are to worship GOD and praise GOD for His creation and for the grace that He has given us through Jesus Christ.

With Scripture, we can continue to have faith through everything that is happening in life. Even through the difficulties, we are instructed to remain at peace and know that GOD is in control of history. The Psalms remind us not only of David’s difficulties but also of the nation of Israel’s difficulties. We are reminded that there have been struggles for believers that believe in Jesus Christ and yet GOD has made sure to bless David, Israel, and believers even through the difficulties.

We are reminded to place our attention on Jesus Christ whenever the news, world events, or distractions of the world attempt to get our attention. We are reminded that the Psalms tell us of instances when David trusted in the LORD despite the difficulties and unfair treatments and yet continued to prosper through his belief in GOD and Jesus Christ.

We know that the steadfast love of GOD is abundant and is described by David. We are instructed to praise GOD every day of our lives as believers for all that GOD and Jesus Christ continue to prosper believers. We are able to keep our faith, we are able to have an increased faith when we go through struggles and difficulties. We see Peter and Paul become foundations of Christianity and the ability of Christianity to reach new places in accordance with Jesus Christ’s prophesies.

We see David become king after placing all his attention on the grace and steadfast love of GOD despite the efforts of Saul. We see believers allowing for GOD to be praised and examples of what it means to be a true faithful believer. We are able to see Jesus Christ resurrect from the dead in three days and be placed at the right hand side of GOD.

Through faith we see GOD’s promises of a better future, better life, and better wisdom. We can continue in faith by reading Scripture including the Psalms to know that GOD cares for His believers even if the world states otherwise. We are to be strong in our faith in GOD.

While no one said being a Christian was going to be simple, we know that we have instructions and help from the Spirit of Truth, the Scriptures, and our faith. We must continue to praise, give thanksgiving, and humble ourselves in our belief in the Creator of everything and Jesus Christ the perfector of our faith.
