GOD and Human Understanding
“Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? Who has measured the Spirit of the LORD, or what man shows him his counsel? Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding. ” -Isaiah 40
Through Isaiah, we are able to see how GOD has unending grace for His people and also for those that believe. We see how GOD is able to provide for His people. We see GOD send Isaiah to preach about future events from the Medes to the Chaldean to even the closing of the Church age. We learn that Isaiah is able to preach about events that would happen. This proving that GOD has already written history.
We also learn that Isaiah preaches about Jesus Christ through various verses indicating a future Savior that would help the people of Israel and the world. The most well known verse is Chapter 53 which tells of Jesus Christ being a suffering servant that would take the iniquities of the people and allow humanity to have eternal life. We also learn about the ability to see Jesus Christ even before the birth which is also included in Chapter 11 describing the descriptions of Jesus Christ in detail.
We are able to learn that Isaiah is allowed to see a vision of the Heavens. Similar to the visions of Ezekiel and Daniel, we learn that Isaiah is allowed to see and hear the voice of GOD who tells him to preach. We see the humility of Isaiah in being allowed to have a vision and he quickly begins preaching and speaking truth. Through these events and details, we can see that GOD is a GOD who cares about His believers and wants them to believe in His truth. We see the Spirit of Truth in the visions of Ezekiel and Daniel confirming that they are serving the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
It is through our faith in GOD that we can attain wisdom and understanding that is from the Spirit of Truth. Isaiah attests to this as an example of a humble prophet who follows GOD’s words and allows us to see the grace, steadfast love, and faithfulness of His guidance and protection. We learn that GOD protects King Hezekiah when the king of Judah humbles himself to GOD. GOD protects King Hezekiah and allows the kingdom of Judah to continue. We can see the promises of GOD to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the realization of GOD’s salvation in Jesus Christ.
