A Psalm of David: The Path of the Righteous
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.” – Psalm 1: 1-2
We know that through the Psalms of David, we can learn about the perseverance and endurance of the believer. We learn that while believers do have obstacles and difficulties, GOD is able to guide us to completing His purpose. We learn that this was the case for David who experienced difficulties prior to being anointed. We learn that he was able to continue with the faith that was a continuous faith that did not diminish based on circumstances.
In the first Psalm of the one-hundred and fifty Psalms, we learn that David tells us that we are to go to the word of GOD to experience renovation and peace. We learn that the word of GOD is created by the Creator of the universe. We know that when we walk closer to GOD, GOD walks closer to us and we experience renovation. We increase our faith.
We learn that instead of committing evil, the believer delights in the ability to understand the word of GOD which gives wisdom and understanding. We are able to obtain wisdom and understanding through our constant reflections and readings of the word of GOD. We are reminded that our walk can at times seem difficult but we know that we are blessed when we are reading, praying, or praising GOD.
